The Man in the Suit

Description:

The Man in the Suit is a supernatural being that originated in 16th century Germany as local folklore. He is described as an unnaturally tall and thin man with a faceless head and wearing a black suit. He is often associated with the forest and/or abandoned locations and has the ability to teleport. What was initially thought to be a simple urban legend quickly escalated to mass panic events involving mass disappearances, familicides, and witch hunts.

History:

In 1522, a search party of 5 people disappeared inside the Black Forest located in Bielefeld after going on a mission to locate a missing child. A day later, Ulrich Ehrlichmann was the only person who came back, but suffered severe panic attacks and psychotic episodes.

When asked about what he saw, he described a tall man grabbing the party members and impaling them on tree branches before fusing itself to a massive tree and disappearing. Ehrlichmann later died of a massive heart attack the following day.

c. 1523

Another account of the entity, dating back as early as 1702, described a boy having a terrifying encounter with what he described as “an angel in all black”. When the boy's father came to investigate his farm, all of the livestock had been killed and the animals hung onto trees. The boy disappeared and was never found.

Modern History:

In 2005, a resurgence of sightings spread across the internet after a 4chan user, known as hamtarooo444 posted a photo of the creature on the /b/ board, which kickstarted a thread where people posted other sightings found online or in family photos.

The thread gained traction after a user shared a supposed encounter they had with the entity, which was deleted a day later but archived by another user:

“I actually remember story about this man that my grandmother used to tell me as a child. she told me about a time where she woke up and saw a tall, suited man in a top hat standing at the foot of her bed. He never spoke or moved, just stood and watched. She then said that the man handed her a piece of black fabric and walked out the room, never to come back. I guess that’s why she never told me anything about this man. Poor grandma.”
